Kilwinning Rangers Festival 2025
Our 2013's made the trip down to Kilwinning last weekend to participate in the 2025 Kilwinning Rangers Festival. The festival which was played over the 26th & 27th July seen a total of 5 games played for the youngsters.
The Saturday seen the boys face up against the hosts Kilwinning Rangers, Annburn & Pollok United
The first game against the hosts was a bit of a nervy affair where either team could've snatched a win but a draw was a comfortable start to the competition. Game 2 seen us come away with an emphatic win where the boys were excellent and blew off the cobwebs of the first match. The 3rd and final game of the group seen us come away with a 2-1 defeat after going 1 up and conceding 2 debatable penalties, although not through the lack of trying just couldn't get back into the game.
After day 1 it was a win, draw and a loss but it was enough to get the boys through to the semi-finals where they faced Morton Thistle.
It was a nervy semi-final at 11am on the Sunday which went all the way to penalties which we went onto win and book our place in the final against Irvine!!
The cigars were out at half-time of the final as we seen ourselves 5-0 up! credit to Irvine though they brought it back to 5-4 to give a nail-biting climax to a fantastic tournament but the boys dug deep and seen it out to the final whistle to win the game, and the tournament!!!!!
It is a fantastic achievement for our 2013's and everyone at the club is delighted for them as the first Apollo Academy team brings home the first piece of Apollo silverware, well done on a well deserved win and may it be the first on many - Mon The Apollo!
