It was over to Glasgow Green this morning as Kelvindale were the hosts. It was a game of 2 halves after a positive start to the game.
As the game kicked off, we were the ones that came out of the traps. Not many chances were created early on but we were keeping the ball comfortably and moving it about nicely. Around the 20 minute mark, Craig Weir goes on a run and find himself taken down in the box but no penalty given🤷♂️. Against the run of play we are caught out with a ball over the top and Stefan was lobbed to make it 1-0 Kelvindale. The goal never seemed to affect us though and we kept playing our game. Craig Weir gets brought down in the box again but this time the ref gives it. It’s Craig who steps us and finishes it nicely to make it all square. Kelvindale were sitting in trying to get us on the break but the teams go into halftime level.
HT 1-1
As the second half kicked off, we weren’t the ones that came out the traps🤦♂️ Kelvindale had changed their shape and were playing more directly and it took us a while to settle back into the game. The game was more end to end and you could see it was taking it toll and it wasn’t long before Kelvindale were 2-1 up. This was shortly followed by another after a silly freekick was given away which was then crossed into the box and headed in almost unposed. As a last throw of the dice, the gaffer was stuck up top but it wasn’t enough as Kelvindale got another.
FT 4-1
Despite the result, there are plenty of positives to take from the game. There has been a high turnover of players since the turn of the year but we’re starting to see a bit of consistency in the lineup week to week which we’re seeing the benefit of in spells with some really nice football being played, definitely something to build on. Take nothing away from Kelvindale though who were superb second half and we wish them well for the rest of the season.
